VAUGHAN, ON -- As part of its mission, The Ontario Soccer Association provides leadership, support, programs and services for the advancement of soccer in Ontario.

The "B" License Course forms part of The OSA’s on-going Coaching Development Program and the "B" Licence Part I course offered by The Ontario Soccer Association is recognized by the National Certification Program and is the first step towards attaining higher certification at the National “A” Licence level.

This year's Provincial "B" Course will take place at Nottawasaga Inn, Alliston Ontario. The dates for the course are July 3,4,5, 11 and 12th. This is a residential course and requires that participants stay on site with the group. The cost to attend this course is $566.00 and details for payment are on the application. Enrolment is limited and applicants must have completed the pre-requisite requirement to apply. Please read through the application for further details on how to apply. Once your application is approved a confirmation will be sent via email along with an agenda and details.

Who Should Attend
The “B” Licence Part I course is for coaches who have successfully completed the pre-requisite requirements and would like to continue with their coaching education at a higher level through the Licence program.

Course Aims
This five day residency course is Part I of the National “B” Licence which prepares coaches planning to complete the National “B” Licence in it’s entirety. Those candidates who are successful at this level may apply to attend the “B” Licence Part II.

Course Content and Format
Coaches will participate in classroom theory components in addition to on-Field practical sessions.
Some of the course topics covered in classroom setting:

· Communication
· Coaching Methodology
· Role of the Coach
· Laws of the Game – Exam
· Game Observation – Home work task and presentation of group game analysis
· Some of the course topics covered on-field practical environment:
· Attacking Principles
· Defending Principles
· Principles of Warm-up
· Assessment Component is made up of two parts
· The Prep-Assessment
· The Final Assessment
Course Pre-requisite requirements
Participants must have completed the Community Coach Certificate and passed a Pre "B" Assessment or
National / Professional Player / International Equivalency must have been formally granted.

Course Progression (The next step)
Candidates who receive a pass to this course may apply to the National “B” Licence Part II.

Participants should come prepared and dressed to participate in all types of weather. They will need training shoes (runners) in addition to outdoor soccer boots. Coaches will need notebook, paper, and pen/pencil.
A laptop with CD capabilities for viewing and internet access will be helpful.

Course Completion / Outcomes

Participants will be assessed based on their prep and final assessment topics on the field. For each Assessment topic the candidates will have access to players, balls, bibs and cones. Sessions will be a maximum of 30 minutes in duration.

Topics are assigned on the first weekend of the course and will be reviewed prior to the final Assessment weekend.

Each candidate will receive a written Assessment on their Prep and final Assessments in the mail with correspondence indicating a pass or fail.

Venue Information


The Nottawasaga Inn & Convention Centre offers superior accommodations and meals in a beautiful private country setting along with two beautifully maintained soccer pitches for instructors and coaches participating in their practical course work.

The classroom setting is comfortable and provides internet access.

After a long day of intense field and class work, candidates will be able to relax in the lounge, pool and whirlpool facilities. Arrangements can also be made to play a round of midnight golf.

The cost of this course includes 3 nights based on shared accommodations and specified meal arrangements
