2008 CLASS 2 UPGRADING PROGRAM updated November 13, 2007
There will be five stages of the program
Stage #1 - Application process(December)
All referees must apply to enter upgrading program by December 31, 2007
Included with application must be:
entrance fee of $150.00 (does not include assessments)
DRC recommendation

Once locations are determined a travel subsidy for referees traveling over 250kms to a training facility will receive travel subsidy (with the prior approval of the Manager of Referee Development)
Stage #2 - In class education program(February - April)
There will be 12 hours of winter education sessions
Times and dates of sessions may vary with each location
Locations will be set based on the demand of participants
Stage #3 - Examination(May)
Everyone in program must complete an examination at the end of the winter education sessions
This exam will be hosted on Saturday May 3rd acorss the province at 10:00am
Stage #4 - Fitness Testing(May)
Once passing the examination each referee must run and pass the Class 2 Fitness Test Standards before being assessed
Stage #5 - Assessments(June to October)
Must be assessed on a minimum of 3 games
Must do a minimum of 5 games as a Assistant Referee
These assessments must be done over a period of 20 assessable games - (20 games must all be in the middle) The 5 AR games are on top of the 20 games.
A referee looking for promotion to Class 2 must prove they can referee at the level of a Class 2, therefore must be assessed and work games at that level before promotion. These will be considered assessable games
Assessments are not part of the clinic fee and a referee must pay per assessment done (Assessment fee is $50.00 per assessment)
Assessment requests for referees in the upgrading Class 2 program must be sent to the OSA office to handle
Each assessment must be done by a minimum of a Regional level assessor.
The minimum number of assessments must be completed within two seasons of the exam (including the season directly following the exam). Extensions to the two years must be made in writing to the Referee Department and approved by the Manager of Referee Development. Extensions will only be granted in exceptional circumstances
