VAUGHAN, ON -- As part of its mission, The Ontario Soccer Association provides leadership, support, programs and services for the advancement of soccer in Ontario.

The Ontario Soccer Association Goal Keeper Diploma Course is part of The OSA’s on-going Coaching Development Program and is the first of it's kind to be offered in Canada.

This year's Goalkeeping Diploma Course will be held at Nottawasga Inn in Alliston, Ontario.

The course will run on Friday July 3rd, Saturday July 4th, and Sunday July 5th.

Enrolment is limited

A course agenda will be provided , once confirmation into the course has been acknowledged.


This is a non residential course

The option to stay on site re: accommodations is up to the individual
(Special rates will be available for a short time should you choose to book your own accommodations)

Who Should Attend
The Goal Keeper Diploma Course is for coaches who have successfully completed the pre-requisite requirements and would like to continue with their coaching education at a higher level through the Licence program. Coaches who attend this course should be familiar with Key Factor Coaching.

Course Aims
This course was designed to deal with the #1 player, the Goal Keeper and is specific to the needs of the GK in the game. All information is specific to coaching the Goal Keeper.

Content and Format
Coaches will participate in classroom theory components in addition to on-Field practical sessions. Some of the course topics covered in classroom setting and/ or on the Field:


· Role of the Coach & Coaching Methodology
· Attributes of the GK
· Warm Up- specific to the GK
· Energy Systems & Fitness relative to the GK and the Game
· Stages of Development
· Periodization
· GK Psychology
· Staff Sessions - GK Distribution, Crossing, Dealing with Pass Backs, Working with the back four
· Staff Sessions - Warm Up, Shot Stopping, Angles, 1 v 1 , Recovery Defender

· Candidate Sessions

Course Pre-requisite requirements
Participants must have completed the Community Coach Certificate or National / Professional Player / International Equivalency must have been formally granted.

Course Progression (The next step)
The Ontario Soccer Association Goal Keeper Diploma Course is the first of it's kind in Canada. The information gained from this course will better prepare you for your future coaching tasks / appointments.

Preparation
Participants should come prepared and dressed to participate in all types of weather. They will need training shoes (runners) in addition to outdoor soccer boots and Goal Keeper Gloves. Coaches will need notebook, paper, and pen/pencil.
